Mentoring is founded on a trusting cooperation between the mentor and the mentee. After defining and prioritising the relevant private and personal issues individually, the mentee then begins the mentoring process itself – ideally outside of their familiar working environment (to create a totally confidential space, with no agenda or hierarchy). Tried-and-tested specialist mentoring tools are employed in this process to work on developing relevant issues – depending on the focus – such as prioritising aims and achieving them, conflict resolution skills, work–life balance, etc. Finally, further steps are established for the ongoing mentoring programme.
